Emanuel Harris, 20, was found guilty in October in the 2014 stabbing death of Luan Pitol, 17, on Dec. 7, 2013 after a party at the Harambee Center.
Harris was also found guilty of first-degree assault for slashing another teenager in the brawl. During the trial, defense lawyer Dante Gallucci said Harris had a knife that night but didn't stab Pitol. Assistant State’s Attorney Warren Murray said Harris and his friends were armed with knives, brass knuckles and a stun gun device and were ready to fight.
Judge Kevin Russo sentenced Harris to a 20 years in prison suspended after 14 years served followed by five years of probation. Harris will also have to make a $500 annual donation to an organization in Brazil, Pitol's native country, while he is on probation, the News-Times article said.
