Danbury Hospital received the lowest ranking in the state, according to an analysis by Kaiser Health News.
The hospitals at the bottom of the rankings could see a 1 percent cut in Medicare payments for a year starting in October, newstimes.com reported.
The new initiative aimed at reducing infections, illnesses and injuries that are acquired at hospitals is part of the Affordable Care Act. Each facility is given a score between 1 and 10. The score given to Danbury Hospital -- 10 -- was the lowest, according to newstimes.com.
Stamford Hospital received a preliminary rating of 8.7, and said it stands to lose as much as $500,000 if fines are enforced, newstimes.com said.
