Lidia Quilligana, now 32, was arrested back in March 2015 after she was caught on a nanny-cam burning the hand and leg of a 3-year-old girl on a hot stove, police said. She was ultimately charged with first-degree assault, which carries a 10-year minimum sentence, and 24 counts of risk of injury to a minor for injuries she inflicted on the 3-year-old girl and her 1-year-old twin siblings, police said.
The children's mother had installed the surveillance cameras after finding bruises on her children and turned the evidence over to police.
Ultimately, Quilligana pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of second-degree assault, which can bring up to five years in prison, and to 24 counts of risk of injury to a minor, which can bring up to 10 years in prison, the News-Times said.
At least half the guilty pleas came under the Alford Doctrine, which means that she does not admit guilt but says there is enough evidence for a conviction, the News-Times said.
Quilligana, who is held on $1 million bond, will be sentenced Aug. 22, the News-Times said.
