"Danbury Hospital has officially opened the doors to its new Emergency Department on Hospital Avenue" as of Wednesday morning, Mayor Mark Boughton said in a phone call to residents.
Patients and visitors should access the new Emergency Department via the Hospital Avenue entrance using the driveway next to the Broadview Middle School field.
The Locust Avenue entrance is no longer operational.
The new The Anna-Maria and Stephen Kellen Emergency Department has 40,000 square foot of space.
The Peter and Carmen Lucia Buck Pavilion and adjacent Rizzo Garage at Danbury Hospital opened to the public in July.
Hospital patients and visitors for the Tower building, Psychiatry, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the Robert J. and Pamela Morganti Center for Wound Care can park in the Rizzo Garage located off of Hospital Avenue adjacent to the Broadview Middle School fields.
Those patients and visitors requiring assistance may use the "Oasis" circular driveway for free valet parking services. A staffed Information Desk welcomes patients and visitors to the new Pavilion and guides them to their location.
Patients and visitors to the Praxair Cancer Center, Family Birthing, The Spratt Family Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Women's services still access the Hospital via the Locust Avenue entrance and are able to park free in the adjacent Red Garage. Valet Parking is also available at this location for those patients and visitors requiring extra assistance.
