A contractor working on State Route 37 struck an 8-inch water main at the intersection of North Street, Padanaram Road and Hayestown Avenue at about 1 p.m., Boughton reported.

Repairs have begun in the area, he said.

The only customers without water at this time include Castello's Restaurant, all customers on Padanaram Avenue, and one residential house on Padanaram Road. All others should remain in service during this repair work, Boughton said.

Surrounding customers may experience discolored water as a result of the break. The city will flush hydrants in the area to alleviate any discoloration once the repair has been completed.

Customer questions should be directed to the Public Utilities Main office at 203-797-4637.
