Williams, a Danbury native and graduate of Danbury High School, told Lottery officials how she came across the ticket.
“A couple days ago, my uncle bought a ‘Golden Casino’ ticket and brought it home,” the 19-year old said. “He said, ‘I’m feeling lucky. Let’s scratch the ticket together.’ So, we sat down and took turns scratching it.”
The game offers scratchers 20 chances to win money, and Williams and her uncle ended up winning 20 times, earning $25,000 in the process.
“It was crazy,” says Williams. “We kept scratching and seeing the prizes add up. We just kept saying, ‘No way!’”
Lottery officials presented her with a check when she visited the Lottery offices in Rocky Hill on Monday, and she already has plans for the $25,000 (before taxes).
“I’m going to put the money right in my bank account to go towards college,” the second-year student says.
