Air Quality Alert Issued In Danbury As Region Swelters

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — The National Weather Service has issued an air quality alert from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Wednesday as Fairfield County and the entire tri-state region continues to bake in the summer heat.

An alert means that air pollution may be especially dangerous for children, the elderly and people suffering from asthma, and heart and lung diseases. The service is advising such people to avoid strenuous outdoor activities such as exercise.

Wednesday’s temperatures are expected to reach the mid-90s in Fairfield, dropping to about 70 by night-time.

The National Weather Service is predicting showers and thunderstorms for Thursday, but temperatures will remain high, in the upper 80s across Fairfield County.
