Trick-Or-Treaters Scare Up Halloween Fun At Stew Leonard's In Danbury

DANBURY, Conn. – At Stew Leonard's in Danbury, kids in costume joined the dancing chickens, a hand-shaking cow and singing milk cartons on Thursday afternoon. But they weren't there to shop — the kids were there to trick-or-treat.

Every year, Stew Leonard's offers the Halloween tradition in a safe, indoor setting, which is embraced by kids and parents.

Kids in costume collected candy from each of the stations through set up throughout the store.

“We’ve been doing this for the past 10 years, and this has been the busiest one,” said Nicole Wiss, front end manager of the Federal Road store.

Costumes included Minions, Disney’s Ariel, as well as pumpkins, cowboys, and much more.

Parents carried infants, held hands with toddlers and watched older kids scamper ahead to get treats.

They were greeted by the store mascot, Wow the Cow, who had a mask on near the dairy department and who posed for pictures.

“It’s nice to see kids come in with a smile on their face, and have them come into a safe place,” said John Talento, store director.

Each of the Stew Leonard’s stores embraces fall. In addition to the trick-or-treating event, the store also holds hayrides that start at the beginning of October and go right up until Halloween.
