The city has committed to phase one of the rehabilitation of the site, but the historical society also is reaching out to the state for support from the Historic Resources Fund to match Danbury's contribution.

The historical society is seeking letters and emails of support for the Ives House Rehabilitation from the Danbury community to be shared with the state grant review committees.

Considered the "father of modern American music," Ives was born in Danbury and composed some of the first pieces of experimental music in the early 1900s.

The deadline for receipt of your letters and emails is Oct. 11.

Letters can be mailed to "DMHS, Ives Project," 43 Main St., Danbury, CT 06810 or by e-mail at info@danburymuseum.org.
