DANBURY, Conn. — Just in time for Memorial Day, the city of Danbury has installed a new flagpole and a giant flag in the center of downtown.
The installation was completed Wednesday on the boulevard at Main Street and West Street, across from the Danbury Public Library.
The sun came out in time Wednesday afternoon to shine on the giant American flag, which was flying high in the light breeze.
The 100-foot-tall flagpole was donated by Savings Bank of Danbury, according to Mayor Mark Boughton's Twitter.
A dedication ceremony will be held on Flag Day. The city plans to fly the flag until Memorial Day and then take it down until the June 14 ceremony, according to WLAD-AM.
