Danbury Hosts Family Friendly Movies At Candlewood Lake

DANBURY, Conn. -- Call it the dive-in: In Danbury's newest summer tradition, families can enjoy four free movie nights on Thursdays in July at Candlewood Town Park on Hayestown Road.

All the movies begin at dusk. Here is the lineup:

  • Frozen on July 10
  • The Princess Bride on July 17
  • Grown Ups on July 24
  • Iron Man on July 31.

Families are invited to bring a picnic and lawn chairs to enjoy the show. The park's concession stand will be open before and during the shows.

The rain date for all of the shows is July 30. Moviegoers are invited to park at the nearby PAL Building, 35 Hayestown Road

The Danbury Parks and Recreation Department is hosting the movie nights. This year’s primary sponsors are L.L. Bean and Union Savings Bank.

Michael Cormier started the Summer Movie Night program five years ago as his Parent Leadership Training Institute project through Danbury Children First.
