A group of contractors went to work on the library plaza, winding lights, including the dramatic icicles, in trees throughout the area. Some workers climbed ladders, others went up in cherry pickers to get to the highest branches.
Workers from CityCenter Danbury were climbing the smaller trees and using poles to string the lights along the branches.
The lights will brighten downtown throughout the season and were already adding a glow on a gloomy Tuesday.
The season officially kicks off with the "Light The Lights" celebration on Saturday, Nov. 29, at 5:15 p.m. at Library Plaza in downtown Danbury.
Mayor Mark Boughton will light Danbury's holiday lights at 5:45 p.m., and Santa Claus is expected to drop in for a visit, arriving via firetruck to attend the festivities.
No matter whether you've been naughty or nice, Santa will visit with children from 6 to 7 p.m. at Library Plaza.
Other entertainers scheduled to appear include magician Magic Marty; 5 6 7 8! Dance Arts, who will perform "A Charlie Brown Holiday;" and the St. Joseph Church School Choir.
The annual 'Light The Lights' event kicks off Danbury's holiday schedule, culminating in the 25th annual First Night Danbury on New Year's Eve.
