For the first time ever, the dining room at Milford's Great River Golf Club will be open to the public throughout the winter, offering some of the area's best comfort foods in an unbeatable location.
Purchased by Sacred Hearth University in 2015, Great River's award-winning, semi-private golf course offers a fun yet challenging golf experience for players of all skill levels. Nearly as impressive as the course's breathtaking views and meticulous landscape is Monty's River Grille, Great River's extensive bar and dining room.
Like most courses, Great River traditionally closed in the winter months as golf play wound down. However, after receiving rave reviews on the quality and pricing of their dining room's food, Great River has recently announced that Monty's will remain open all winter long. "We’ve changed the menus and will offer a variety of family meals to get kids and their families out of the house," said Mark Appelberg, executive director of Great River Golf Club.
From corporate nights with local businesses to family and holiday events, Monty's is planning something for everyone. "We have a beautiful banquet facility and will host Christmas, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day celebrations," said Appelberg. "The dining room is perfect for any events in the late winter or early spring."
In addition to the expanded seasonal service is a newly designed, winter-inspired menu which will be available come Jan. 1. "We researched the top 25 comfort food menus today," said Appelberg. "We’ll still have fancy specials, but we're looking to share food that people are used to having, and doing so incredibly well. We want to put our special touches on comfort food." Diners will enjoy these updated meals in Great River's picturesque riverside setting. "Especially in the winter with the big windows, vaulted ceiling and views of the river, Monty's is special," said Appelberg.
Having grown from 90 members to 224 in a few short years, Great River has become synonymous with excellence. "As soon as someone pulls into that driveway, we want them to feel it's the best experience they’ve had," said Appelberg.
