Danbury's Mad Hatter Chorus Offers Singing Valentines

DANBURY, Conn. -- Looking for something special to do for Valentine’s Day? The Mad Hatter Chorus, a 30-man a cappella chorus from Danbury, is offering "Singing Valentines" delivered by a well-dressed quartet complete with a rose, a card, and classic barbershop harmony on Feb. 13 and Feb. 14 as part of its annual fundraiser.

Last year's quartets sings at a private home in Ridgefield; Art Cilley is on the far left.

For $49, you can surprise your sweetie at home, at a restaurant, or at the office with two memorable songs appropriate to the occasion. The group, based in Danbury, will travel (by appointment) throughout the area, including New Fairfield, Bethel, Ridgefield, Brookfield and Newtown, as well as North Salem and Brewster, N.Y.

This is a longstanding tradition, said Tenor Art Cilley. Cilley has been performing with the group for three years but says this tradition goes back much further, perhaps as long as the 50 years that the chorus has been in existence.

Last year, the group raised part of its budget from this popular program.
