Norwalk is ranked second overall for towns with 100,000 residents or fewer, coming in behind only West Hartford. Danbury falls just a few spots behind at No. 4.
Niche compiled data in several key categories to determine its rankings:
- school ratings
- crime rates
- housing
- employment
- community
- things to do
Norwalk boasted both household and individual median incomes well over the national average as well as poverty and crime rates that are below the norm.
The city struggled in cost-of-living areas, predominantly, with homes that are older than the national average and more expensive to rent or own.
Danbury's picture was very much the same, but fell a few spots due to median household and individual incomes that are much closer to the national averages.
