DANBURY, Conn. -- William-Sonoma's store in the Danbury Fair Mall is kicking off its fifth annual campaign to support No Kid Hungry this Friday during the Forever Grateful Festival at Ives Concert Park.
During the festival between 6 and 10 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 18, Williams-Sonoma will be selling pizza by the slice and raffling off appliances, with all proceeds benefiting No Kid Hungry, an organization dedicated to ending childhood hunger. The pizza will be prepared by Breville Crispy Crust Pizza Oven, and raffle tickets for appliances will cost $1 each.
Williams-Sonoma is a retailer specializing in kitchenwares and home furnishings. It was founded in 1956 and is one of the largest e-commerce retailers in the country.
“As a company that celebrates and facilitates eating great food, it’s particularly unconscionable to us that too many children go hungry. As citizens of Danbury, our store is keenly aware of the problem in our community. That’s why we’ve been partnered with No Kid Hungry since 2012," said Shannon Luszczak, Sonoma’s store manager. "Importantly, every penny we raise will directly benefit the local community.”
The store's complete fundraising campaign will run in the store through Oct. 2. Throughout the year, Williams-Sonoma will continue to field events to support the cause of No Kid Hungry. In 2016, Williams-Sonoma raised $1.5 million dollars across the country for No Kid Hungry, providing more than 15 million meals for children in need. Every dollar raised provides up to 10 meals.
No Kid Hungry connects children in need to healthy meals in their communities, including through school breakfasts, school lunch programs, healthy summer meals, and teaching families to cook affordable, nutrient-rich meals at home.
