Life After Loss Symposium Coming To Danbury Friday

DANBURY, Conn. -- Professionals from around the country are coming to Danbury to help people talk about dealing with life after loss.

The nonprofit group The Tony Brown Foundation is hosting a two day Symposium of "Life After Loss" on Friday and Saturday at The Crowne Plaza in Danbury, according to a press release.

"The event is open to anyone wanting to find resources and direction for finding hope and direction along their journey along with gaining knowledge on how to move forward to leading a life of meaning again," representatives said in the press release. "The Tony Brown Foundation has been collaborating with distinguished professionals who are bringing expertise in all areas of grief and healing. Our speakers, performers and presenters are the best in their expertise."

The symposium is scheduled to include Darcie and Tony Sims of the American Grief Academy and Grief INC, Alan Pedersen from Angels Across The USA, Dr. Doug and BJ Jensen along with Love in Motion, Glen and Dr. Tanya Lord with The Grief Tool Box, Mitch Carmody of Heartlight Studios, Cathy Seehuetter, Dave Roberts, Andrea Rudolph of In The Spirit of Life, John Henkels and Journey to Bliss with Kat and Kristina from Bethlehem, according to the release.

The symposium will cover a variety of topics including: Guilt and Regret, How to Handle the Holidays, Siblings Grieve too, Grief in the Workplace, How to talk to Children about Grief, Men in Grief, A Time FOr Weeping, A Time For Laughter, Journaling as a Healing Tool, Transformation After Grief, Pro Active Grieving, Meditation, Rescuing Marriage and Relationships and Whispers-Signs From Our Loved Ones, according to the release. There also will be a wellness room "where attendees can go to gather information and resources about health while grieving, depression, and will also be able to experience alternative forms of healing through chair massages, reiki, acupuncture and more," according to the release.

"This is a great example of how The Tony Brown Foundation reaches out to families and friends providing hope and healing while educating about the grieving process," representatives said in the release. "The need to learn how to truly help anyone suffering from any type of loss is growing. Not only do we need to educate those who want to help those grieving, but we need to help those grieving from a devastating loss learn how to integrate back into living a life of purpose again."
