Danbury Museum & Historical Society Kicking Off Summer With Clam Bake

DANBURY, Conn. -- The Danbury Museum & Historical Society will kick off the summer season with its first annual clam bake on its grounds.

The event will be Thursday, June 30, from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. at 43 Main St. 

The event will be presented by Clambakes of Connecticut, which specializes in catering traditional New England-style menus for special occasions. 

Tickets are $65 per person and include steamers, clam chowder, a choice of lobster or Angus steak, sides, dessert and a beverage. A full menu is posted on the museum's website. 

“We're resurrecting the type of event that was at one time a favorite social gathering in Danbury. We are inviting you to become a vital part of the museum, to take a leadership role in the preservation of our community history and to have a great time enjoying the sights and sounds of our city’s past,” said Brigid Guertin, executive director of the museum and Danbury's city historian. 

The historic buildings located on the Main Street campus of the museum, The John & Mary Rider House, c. 1785; The John Dodd Hat Shop, c. 1790; The Marian Anderson Studio, and the Little Red Schoolhouse will be open to guests. 

"Toy Time: Playful Pieces at The Danbury Museum," the summer/fall exhibit, will also be on display. Musical entertainment will also be provided.
