CityCenter Danbury Kicks Off Summer With International Beer & Food Festival

DANBURY, Conn. -- CityCenter Danbury will host a variety of events this summer, beginning with its first annual International Beer & Food Festival on June 11 from 3 to 9 p.m. on the CityCenter Green at Ives Street.

The International Beer & Food Festival will showcase the growing popularity of internationally crafted beers, highlight local ethnic cuisine and celebrate Danbury's unique diversity. 

Traditionally, CityCenter's free Summer Concerts on the Green, sponsored by Union Savings Bank, opens with a pops concert by the Danbury Symphony Orchestra. This year, it will honor the 80th anniversary of the Danbury Music Centre with a musical jamboree. 

Starting at 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 18, the DMC is hosting a party on the Green that will include strolling madrigals, string quartets, ice cream and more.There will be a "Happy Birthday" Symphony celebration concert at 7:30 p.m. — a tribute to lead into a summer season featuring a full-on lineup of "tribute" concerts and more, beginning Friday, July 8 and running through Saturday, Aug. 27.

On Friday, July 8, Back to the Garden 1969 returns with a tribute to artists including Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, Joe Cocker, Sly and the Family Stone, The Who, Jefferson Airplane, Janis Joplin, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Jimi Hendrix, Santana and Richie Havens. 

The Doug Wahlberg Band takes the stage on Saturday, July 9, with its distinctly 60's/70's British rock and psychedelic influence. Shot of Karma Summer Concerts on the Green begins with opening acts at 7 p.m. and headliners take the stage at 8 p.m., unless otherwise noted. 

A Taste of Greater Danbury, on Saturday, Sept. 10 and Sunday, Sept. 11, closes the season with downtown Danbury's "tribute" to all things delicious.
