Need Coffee? Another New Starbucks Takes Shape In Danbury

DANBURY, Conn. — It's hard to miss the large construction project underway in the front of the parking lot of the Berkshire Shopping Center in Danbury.

There's no sign on the fence, but Mayor Mark Boughton confirms that the under-construction building is slated to be the fifth Starbucks location in Danbury.

The site was previously the home of a small drive-thru coffee hut that had long been closed. It's in a busy retail area in a strip mall near McDonald's and across the street from Stop & Shop.

The new Starbucks at 67 Newtown Road will include a drive-thru for java lovers who are in a hurry. The location is near Exit 8 of I-84 — a quick stop for commuters on the city's East Side.

But for those who want to stop and stay for a while, they can enjoy the amenities in the new 2,000-square foot building.

Starbucks has multiple locations in Danbury, including at the Danbury Fair Mall and on Mill Plain Road, North Street and Federal Road.

There are also nearby locations in Bethel, a little more than two miles from the proposed location, as well as in New Fairfield, Ridgefield, Monroe and Newtown.
