Got A Big Appetite? Texas Roadhouse Takes Shape In Danbury

DANBURY, Conn. — Danbury diners will soon get another spot to satisfy their appetites, with another new restaurant set to open in June on busy Newtown Road.

A new Texas Roadhouse restaurant is quickly going up on the site of a closed car dealership (a victim of the great recession) next to Stop & Shop and across from Wal-Mart.

Texas Roadhouse dishes up hand-cut steaks, ribs, combos, chicken specialities, country dinners, dockside favorites, burgers and sandwiches as well as starters, salads and and sides. There is also a kids menu. Click here for the menu.

Next to the Texas Roadhouse, a medical office building is also under construction, according to a Tweet from Mayor Mark Boughton.

That stretch of Newtown Road near the Brookfield and Bethel borders is filled with chain restaurants as well as retail outlets. In the past year, a new Ninety-Nine went up next door to the construction site. And a Puerto Vallarta replaced the closed Bertucci's a bit farther up the road.

There's also some old favorites, sit-down spots and fast-food joints along there as well, including Boston Market, Taco Bell, Dunkin' Donuts, Friendly's, Denny's, Little Caesar's, Burger King, McDonald's, Ichiro, Barbarie's Black Angus Grill, Ki Asian Bistro & Sushi and Chili's.

And if you need it after all that food, there's an Edge Fitness Club right along that busy strip, too.
