The 1,500-square-foot business, formerly called Jenna Dallinga Massage, originally opened in 2008.
The business had always focused on the medical side of massage, which works at fixing injuries and eliminating pain. It has just been revamped to include spa-like amenities such as foot and hand treatments, aromatherapy, seaweed wraps and hot stone massage.
"Now, it's a total balance where people can come in to get a medical massage and choose add ons to make their massage experience more relaxing," said Danbury resident Jenna Dallinga, 32, who owns the business.
One part of the business that was redone is the massage therapy room. "We redid this room to create a complete Zen experience," she said. "We have installed dim lighting and painted the room in soft, comforting colors. Relaxing music plays during the massage."
Another part of the renovation included the installation of a button system in the message therapy room where "we create the ability for our clients to tell us when they're ready for treatment," said Dallinga, who has an associate's degree in natural health with an advanced massage therapy license and specialty certification in lymphatic drainage.
Dallinga, who used to work by herself, said she changed the name of her business because she has since hired new employees and wanted to be able to create more opportunities for them to establish relationships with clients.
Her business offers unique treats. In addition to receiving hot towels with aromatherapy as well as complimentary teas to take home after the massage, each client receives a custom stretching program.
"They get a program and videos that are designed to keep them pain and injury free," said Dallinga, who is also a professional soccer coach in Chappaqua, N.Y.,, for 8- to 14-year-old girls.
Another service the business provides is lymphatic drainage, which works to reduce inflammation and release toxins in the body. Her clients range from desk sitters to breast cancer patients to professional athletes.
She explained that another service she provides is Active Release Therapy. "This therapy is geared toward people with nerve pain. It takes away scar tissue build-up and releases nerve impingements."
Customer Kerry Demunn of Danbury said Dallinga has substantially improved her mobility.
"After my hip replacement, I needed hip resurfacing. I had almost no mobility and was in pain every day. I came here every other week for several months and can now do all my exercises and stretches without pain."
