Danbury Bus Route Expands To Include Stop At Belimo Controls

DANBURY, Conn. -- The Housatonic Valley Metropolitan Planning Agency has voted to allow the expansion of a local bus route to include a stop at the new Belimo Americas corporate headquarters on Saw Mill Road in Danbury.

This action, adding the HARTransit-Belimo transit shuttle project to the HVMPO Transportation Improvement Program, allows the Connecticut Department of Transportation to move forward in its implementation of this federally funded grant from the Congestion Mitigation Air Quality Program.

CMAQ is a $10 million program in which regions can submit projects for consideration. This program is administered by the CTDOT for the regional Western Connecticut Council of Governments.

“Since 2015, I have been working with Mr. John Coppola, vice president of finance and administration of Belimo Controls, to secure an effective way for his employees to get to work in their new location,” State Rep. Jan Giegler (R-138) said. “Danbury was fortunate that Belimo chose to expand its operation, so assisting them in securing employees from the local community benefits the greater Danbury area.”

The HARTransit-Belimo shuttle will allow more than 25 employees the opportunity to travel to work at the Belimo facility on Saw Mill Road as they had from their former Ridgebury Road location.

It will also serve a rapidly expanding portion of the west side of Danbury, which includes Ann’s Place, as well as residents of the Reserve and other condos and apartments that have been constructed in this area.

“Though a timely process, CTDOT’s Bureau of Policy and Planning -- who administers the CMAQ program -- and the Western Connecticut Council of Governments have assisted me in the selection process,” Giegler said.

Belimo is at 33 Turner Road, Danbury.
