Route 39 Reopens Near Squantz Pond In New Fairfield After Repairs On Wires

Eversource reported that all power outages in New Fairfield have also been restored.

update: NEW FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Route 39 in New Fairfield reopened late Thursday afternoon near Squantz Pond State Park after downed power lines were repaired and a fallen tree cleared, according to the state Department of Transportation. 

original story: NEW FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Route 39 in New Fairfield was expected to be closed for the entire day on Thursday in the vicinity of Squantz Pond State Park because of downed power lines in the area, police said.  

The closure is on Route 39 between Squantz Pond and Inglenook Road. A tree took out power lines in the area. 

Motorists and residents are encouraged to use alternative routes because of the long closure.

Eversource was reporting 180 customers without power in New Fairfield as of 11:40 a.m. Thursday. That is 3 percent of the town.
