Route 39 Closed Near Squantz Pond In New Fairfield

NEW FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Motorists were urged to use alternate routes after Route 39 in New Fairfield was closed late Thursday until further notice, according to the New Fairfield Fire Police Facebook page.

Route 39 was closed at Lavelle Avenue in New Fairfield overnight.

The closure is in the area of Lavelle Avenue. It is in the area along Squantz Pond, just north of the state park.

"This is a long-term incident," the post said. "Expected to be closed through the night into daylight hours."

The Facebook post did not explain the nature of the incident. Over a foot of snow fell during Thursday in New Fairfield.
