Coyote Warning Issued In Westport After Multiple Dog Attacks Police issued a coyote warning in a town in Fairfield County after two dogs were attacked. The incidents occurred in Westport over the past week in the North area of the town. According to Lt. Eric Woods of the Westport Police, two dogs have been attacked by coyotes, but neither was killed. Woods said residents should protect their animals when out for a walk or while they are in the yard. He added that coyotes avoid conflict with humans. Video: Watch This Area Bear Sighting One of the first bear sightings of the New Year has been reported in the area. It happened on Wednesday, Jan. 8 near the Putnam County/Dutchess border where a Pawling resident received a surprise when she checked her home's surveillance camera feed and found an unexpected visitor: a black bear. In the video, the bear can be seen activating security lights, making the rounds, investigating the backyard before taking off from the driveway of the home into a nearby wooded area without incident. New Black Bear Sighting: This One Is A Real Night Owl There have been no shortage of black bear sightings throughout the area of late. Nearly all, though, have come during the day. But this weekend, we have received word of a bear who's a real night owl - so to speak. A family in Dutchess County tells us the bear has made back-to-back evening visits the last two days. Motorcycle Crashes After Bear Runs Onto Route 202 In Litchfield County Two area residents out for a Sunday drive were injured after a bear ran in front of their motorcycle, causing them to crash after clipping the animal. The crash occurred around 1:35 p.m. Sunday on the Litchfield Turnpike (Route 202), said Connecticut State Trooper Kelly Grant.  According to Grant, Paul Padua and Theresa Kochiss-Padua, both of Norfolk in Litchfield County, were traveling eastbound on a 2014 Harley Davidson when a bear ran in front of them, hitting the motorcycle.  Both received minor injuries and were transported to Danbury Hospital for treatment.
