CT Man Busted With More Than Two Kilos Of Cocaine, Police Say
A Connecticut man was arrested by New York State Police for the alleged possession of more than two kilos of cocaine, a large stash of cash, and an illegal 9mm Smith & Wesson handgun. Rafael Batista, age 40, of Waterbury, was arrested around 9:55 a.m. on Monday, March 8 during a traffic stop in Westchester in Scarsdale, said Trooper AJ Hicks. Batista was busted when troopers initiated a traffic stop of a 2020 Chevrolet Tahoe for a violation of the vehicle and traffic law on the Hutchinson River Parkway, Hicks said. A Long Island accountant who worked for a pizzeria owner with locations in Fairfield and Westchester counties is facing prison time after he admitted to tax offenses. Suffolk County resident James Guerra, age 58, of Dix Hills, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court to one count of willful failure to collect and pay over withholding taxes following his arrest for turning a blind eye to his boss failing to pay taxes. Gambino Crime Family Members From Region Admit To Multiple Crimes
A dozen members and associates of the Gambino organized crime family of La Cosa Nostra admitted to multiple crimes, including racketeering conspiracy, fraud, obstruction of justice and related offenses for criminal activities throughout the New York metropolitan area committed as part of the illicit activities of the Gambino family. A Syracuse University first-year student from Westchester who died suddenly earlier this week is being remembered for his high energy and engaging personality. John “Jack” Howard Lundin of the Crestwood section of Yonkers, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, Oct. 14. He was 18. He was born on June 20, 2002, in White Plains.
