Police have identified a Fairfield County man who was killed in a single-car fiery crash in Shelton. Related: Man Killed In Fiery Shelton Crash Mauricio Sierra Zapata, age 24, of Shelton.was killed around 11:30 on Sunday, June 23, in the area of Commerce Drive and Research Drive. According to Det. Christopher Nugent of the Shelton Police, responding firefighters and police found the car on fire and pulled Zapata out of the vehicle. A man pulled from a burning car following a crash in Fairfield County has died. Related: Police ID Shelton Man Killed In Fiery Crash The incident occurred in Shelton at around 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 23, in the area of Commerce Drive and Research Drive. Det. 500 Street Takeover Vehicles Stopped In Shelton By Awaiting Police
Some 500 vehicles were stopped from a "street takeover" in Connecticut by awaiting police who had been tipped off about the event. The incident took place in Shelton on Saturday, Dec. 9, in the area of Research Drive. According to Det. Richard Bango, of the Shelton Police, detectives learned that a street takeover was planned to take place on Saturday. A street takeover is an unsanctioned event with large groups of motorists that block roads and "take over" parking lots, performing stunts with their vehicles. 19: Two Major Vaccination Sites Due To Open In Fairfield County
Two new mass COVID-19 vaccination sites are being set up in Fairfield County. Shelton Mayor Mark Lauretti announced that the Griffin Health building on Progress Drive and the Hartford HealthCare building on Research Drive are being set up as vaccination sites as more allocations are expected to be distributed to Connecticut by the new federal administration.
