Officials in Connecticut said there is no threat following a "swatting" call on Monday, Sept. 23, that claimed an armed intruder was inside an elementary school. It's part of a growing trend of hoax calls promising violence at schools. Man Injured In Fight Outside Stop & Shop In Fairfield County
Two men outside a supermarket store were arrested after allegedly getting into a fight and causing a disturbance. The incident took place in Fairfield County at the Stop & Shop on Quality Street in Trumbull on Friday, Jan. 20. Robert Zacchia, age 55, of Trumbull, and Emmanuel Andriotis, age 19, of Bridgeport were both arrested and charged for their involvement in the incident, said Lt. Brian Weir of the Trumbull Police. Woman Accused Of Striking Child In Fairfield County
A 39-year-old Fairfield County woman was arrested for allegedly hitting a child in the face and pulling their hair. The incident took place around 10 p.m., Saturday, April 11, when Westport police responded to a home on a complaint of a dispute, Westport Police said. When officers arrived on the scene they determined that during what began as a verbal argument, Sandy Ramos, of Westport, had allegedly struck a juvenile in the face as well as had pulled this juvenile’s hair resulting in a clump of it being pulled from the scalp, police said. A 15-year-old girl in Darien admitted to officers that several teenagers drank at her home while her parents were away, police say. Darien Police say they responded to a home on Kensett Lane on a report of underage consumption of alcohol on Saturday, Sept. 21 around 9:30 p.m. When officers arrived on the scene, they say no one would answer the front door. Man Charged With Assault, Strangulation In New Canaan
A man is facing assault and strangulation charges after police responded to a domestic dispute in New Canaan. New Canaan Police were dispatched to a residence on Louises Lane on a report of a domestic dispute between two occupants of the residence at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 21. A subsequent investigation resulted in Warren Edward Giza-Sisson being taken into custody on third-degree assault and strangulation and disorderly conduct. A report of a man walking onto the campus of Western Connecticut State University with a long gun led to a complete lockdown and shelter in place as a mass of police converged on the college campus. Police aren't sure who was watching a 5-year-old boy seen by a passing motorist on Soundview Avenue climbing out a second-floor window and hopping onto the roof to play. Sgt. Robert Shawinsky said police received the call around 10:40 a.m. Wednesday, but by the time they arrived the child was back inside the home. Stamford Teen Threatens To Shoot Bus Driver, Police Say
Stamford police arrested a young teen Wednesday for threatening to shoot his bus driver. According to police, the student had words with the bus driver on the ride home around 3 p.m. and threatened to shoot them, said Capt. Rich Conklin. The department declined to say which school the teen attended. "We have to be very hyper-vigilant with this type of behavior, especially in light of recent events," said Conklin.
