Fire At Fairfield County Home Causes 'Significant' Damage Multiple fire crews worked to extinguish a large fire that significantly damaged an unoccupied Fairfield County home. Authorities received a report of heavy smoke and a possible large open burn at a home in Stamford at about 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 2, according to the Stamford Fire Department. The fire was reported in the area of 579 Erskine Road. ID'd Released For Man Found Dead At Metro-North Station In Area ID'd Released For Man Found Dead At Metro-North Station In Area
ID'd Released For Man Found Dead At Metro-North Station In Area A man whose body was found under the Springdale train station platform in Stamford has been identified as a New Canaan resident. Stephen Sugrue, 65, was found under the platform late Saturday afternoon, Dec. 29, according to Metro-North officials. The cause of death is pending results the Medical Examiner's Office. MTA police are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death. Sugrue's death was the second death of a New Canaan resident near the tracks. John Hickey, 50, was killed on Dec. 13, 2018, by a train between the Darien and Noroton Heights stations.
