Accused Shoplifter Eats Counterfeit Bill While Being Questioned, Police Say A man took an interesting approach to destroying evidence when he was caught with counterfeit money: he ate it. Police investigators in Milford were alerted by a loss prevention agent at Sears on Boston Post Road of a shoplifter who had been taken into custody shortly after noon on Tuesday.  The investigation into the alleged shoplifting incident found that New Haven resident Mizraim Diaz-Rivera, 42, was allegedly attempting to steal more than $120 in merchandise, possibly with a counterfeit $20 bill.
