Gas Leak Caused By Construction: Main Street Reopens In Ridgefield
This story has been updated. A gas leak caused by construction resulted in part of a busy Fairfield County road being closed to traffic. The gas leak began on Thursday, June 15 in Ridgefield in the CVS parking lot at 467 Main St., Ridgefield Emergency Management announced just before 4:40 p.m. The leak was caused by construction activity in the area, officials said. Main Street between Bailey Avenue and Prospect Street was closed before being reopened late Thursday afternoon.

Jeep Crashes Into Staples High School In Westport, Hits Gas Line
A Jeep crashed into a high school in Fairfield County, causing the school to be evacuated. The incident took place in Westport around 7:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 1, at Staples High School. According to Lt. Eric Woods, of the Westport Police, the Jeep accidentally plowed into the Culinary Arts department classroom during the prime drop-off time. At 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 29, police in New Haven County asked people in Seymour to avoid the area of Maple Street and Pearl Street. This story has been updated. A busy roadway that connects Greenwich to Port Chester has reopened after an hours-long closure Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 19. Danbury Family Displaced By Weekend Fire
DANBURY, Conn. — A family was displaced early Saturday when a basement fire caused damage to their Padanaram Road home, according to Danbury fire officials. Firefighters were called to the home just before 7:30 a.m. on a report of smoke in the basement along with the odor of gas, said James Gagliardo, the department’s public information officer. Units quickly located the source and extinguished the blaze, he said. The American Red Cross was brought in to the assist the family. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office.
