Major Brush Fire In NY Spreads Smoke Into Fairfield County
A major brush fire over at least a dozen acres in the Hudson Valley produced smoke that spread across the New York border into Connecticut. The blaze broke out at around 12:05 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26 in Putnam County in the area of Route 301 and East Boyds Road in the town of Kent and was finally contained late in the day on Sunday, Oct. 27. Horses Rescued After Fire Breaks Out At Barn Just Over New Fairfield Line
Around a dozen horses had to be rescued from a barn that caught on fire in the Hudson Valley, fire officials announced. The incident happened in Putnam County on Wednesday, Jan. 10 around 8:20 p.m., when the hay storage area inside a barn at the High Point Equestrian Center at 572 East Branch Rd. in Patterson caught on fire, according to the Putnam Lake Fire Department. Arriving fire crews were able to quickly knock out a large portion of the blaze, but found completely extinguishing it difficult because of the heavily stacked hay storage inside the barn. Injured Driver Taken To Danbury Hospital After Crashing Car Into House
A person had to be rescued after crashing into a Hudson Valley home and becoming trapped inside, officials said. The incident happened in Putnam County on Wednesday, Nov. 29 around 12:30 p.m., when a vehicle careened into a home in Brewster, according to the Carmel Fire Department. Arriving firefighters soon found that a sedan had crashed into the home on Carmel Avenue, injuring the driver and causing them to become trapped inside their car. Swimmer From Connecticut Who Went Missing In Lake Carmel Found Dead
The body of a man who went missing while swimming in Putnam County has been recovered by police. Kent police said they located the body of the 54-year-old Connecticut man floating in the middle of Lake Carmel around 5:30 a.m., Monday, July 22. Neither his identity nor place of residence have been released. The man disappeared after telling his wife he was going swimming Saturday afternoon, July 20, but then never returned home. Search For Missing CT Man Causes Closures Of NY Lake
Lake Carmel is closed to swimmers and boaters as emergency responders search for a missing man. The Lake Carmel Fire Department said it was dispatched on a report of a missing swimmer at around 7:35 p.m. Saturday, July 20. The man has been identified as a Connecticut resident in his 50s. The department was assisted in the search by the Carmel Fire Department, Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department dive team and Putnam County Sheriff's Department, Kent Police.
