Vehicle Crashes Into Utility Pole In New Canaan
Police are investigating after a motor vehicle crashed into a utility pole in Fairfield County. It happened on Sunday, June 18 just after 8 p.m. in New Canaan, in the area of Smith Ridge Road (Route 123) and Canoe Hill Road The operator, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was evaluated at the scene by New Canaan Emergency Medical Services (EMS) but was not transported to the hospital. Man Caught After Crashing Stolen BMW In Fairfield County, Police Say
A 30-year-old man was arrested for burglarizing vehicles in Fairfield County, as well as stealing a BMW and later crashing it. Lous Cruz, of Newark, New Jersey, was arrested on Wednesday, Jan. 27, after New Canaan Police were dispatched to the area of Urban Street on a report of two males entering and searching through vehicles on the street, said Lieutenant Jason Ferraro. The New Canaan Police Department is imploring residents to lock their cars and take their keys inside following a brand-new rash of auto thefts and reports of cars being broken into. In recent days, police received reports of three stolen vehicles and five others that were entered during a weekend spree in New Canaan. Driver Extricated After Tree Falls On Pickup Truck In New Canaan
New Cannan firefighters were able to save a pickup truck driver after a tree fell right on his windshield, trapping him in the vehicle.The incident happened around 3 p.m., March 2 when the driver was on Canoe Hill Road, said New Cannan Fire Chief Jack Hennessey. The driver was able to be pulled out by firefighters using the jaws of life, the chief said. "Luckily, considering how severe the accident was, the driver received non-life threatening injuries," Hennessey said. Assisting at the incident included the New Canaan Police and the Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
