As the holiday season peaks, the Teamsters Union has initiated a significant strike against Amazon, targeting facilities in four states. This action is described as the largest labor movement in the company’s history.

A former teacher who worked for schools in both Northern Westchester and Fairfield County has died.
Margaret "Peggy" Beccaria died on Sunday, Jan. 15 at the age of 85, according to her obituary.
A native of New Canaan, Beccaria graduated from high school there before attending college at Western Connecticut State University. She then became a teacher in Stamford.
During this time, she married her husband, Peter, in 1959, and then moved to Westchester County, settling in Pound Ridge where the couple raised their two children, Michael and Patrick.

A popular television personality from New York has died at the age of 53.
Jovita Moore was an anchor at WSB-TV, Channel 2, an ABC-affiliated station in Atlanta.
She had been diagnosed with incurable brain cancer after experiencing symptoms of disorientation and forgetfulness in April.
Moore died Thursday night, Oct. 28 surrounded by her family. She is survived by her children, Shelby and Joshua, stepdaughter Lauren, and her mother, Yvonne.

Former Tax Preparer In Area Sentenced, Ordered To Pay $550K Restitution
A former tax preparer in the area will spend time in prison after allegedly stealing $550,000 from the IRS through an elaborate scam.
Devon Williams, 30, a former tax preparer in New Haven now living in Atlanta, was sentenced in New Haven district court to eight months in prison, followed by a year of supervised release, for preparing false tax returns.
In addition to his prison sentence, Williams was also ordered to pay restitution of $550,000.

A door-to-door salesman who was scaring residents in Monroe has been arrested for his "overly aggressive tactics" and for not having a license, police said.
Jamarcus Styles, 22, of Atlanta, Georgia, was arrested on Tuesday, Aug. 13, after Monroe Police received calls from residents on Lazy Brook Road, said Monroe Police Lt. Stephen Corrone.
The first call came in around 5:25 p.m. from a resident reporting that Styles was acting aggressively.

A man wanted for murder was nabbed after taking state police on a foot chase following a traffic stop.
Robert D. Annunziata, 33, of McDonough, Georgia, was arrested around 4:50 p.m., Sunday, July 4, after the vehicle he was in was stopped for speeding in the area of I-95 southbound just south of Exit 92 in Stonington, said the Connecticut State Police.
Annunziata, who was a passenger in the vehicle, jumped out of the car and ran into a wooded area just north of North Anguilla Road, but was located by K-9 officer Luka, state police said.

A response to a fight that broke out in Stamford led to the discovery of checks likely stolen from mailboxes and corporate buildings, Stamford Police said.
Patrol units were sent to Summer Street at Sixth Street on a report of two people fighting on Thursday, Dec. 27.
