"Just as growing up teaches us the importance of living in the moment and appreciating where we are and who we are with, it also teaches us the importance of creating a balance between taking care of yourself while also being able to take a step back from your own wants and needs and see how you can make a positive impact on others," Middle School Dean of Students Sarah Rand said in a statement. "This sixth grade student who we would like to recognize does just that."

Megan illustrated this in her community art project this fall, creating a painting of two holding hands, showing the connectedness of people, whether in this community or across the Atlantic Ocean.

"Alongside this sensitivity and awareness of the world around her, she has this impenetrable strength about her - shown in her commitment, her determination, her drive in whatever she does,' Rand said.

This is visible not only in the classroom but also on the volleyball court.

In her English class, Megan took on the challenging role of Lady Macbeth.

“She is a serious student and is always positively engaged in all class discussions and activities. She is thoughtful and organized, and is always on the lookout for ways to be helpful to others,” one of her teachers said.

Another teacher said, “She works hard, gets excellent results, organizes everything and is so pleasant while doing it. Whether it is cleaning up a mess, organizing a group project, or remembering to bring in party supplies, she is there.”

She helps without hesitation, her teachers say. No matter where Megan is on campus, she is present, she is connected, and she is thinking about how she can contribute.

"While she has this inspiring strong work ethic she also has a caring and nurturing way about how she encourages and supports her peers, making her a positive role model to all," Rand said.
