The award is presented to individuals credited with promoting safe and sober driving through effective legislation.
Harding is being honored for his efforts to pass Public Act 16-182, which institutes a diversionary program for drivers under age 21 who have committed violations and crimes relating to underage drinking, and Public Act 16-126, which penalizes drivers who endanger the welfare of passengers under 18 while driving under the influence.
“I am so grateful to have been a part of making these laws become a reality,” said Harding, who represents Brookfield, Bethel and Danbury. “This recognition means a great deal, and I plan to continue fighting for legislation that protects our residents out on the road.”
Harding will accept the award at MADD’s annual Community Champions Award Dinner held in New Haven during November.
