Last weekend in Hartford County, an irate woman at Central Pizza on Mill Avenue in Berlin was caught on camera shouting at a naval student, as she couldn't discern whether or not he was wearing a phony uniform or not on Sept. 11.

The incident took place at approximately 11:45 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11, in the lobby of the pizza shop.

Video of the exchange can be found here.

“You are a disgrace to the US! You are a disgrace to the USA! This is disgusting!,” she shouted while throwing the sailor’s hat on the ground. “Show me your uniform!”

The woman slapped the sailor, later identified as Sean Nolte, Jr., a student at the submarine school on the Naval SUBASE in Groton, before storming toward the door to leave, then back to Nolte several times.

Following the incident, which went viral on social media once photos and video of the woman were shared by police, tips began flowing in as investigators attempted to locate the woman.

“Up until yesterday and despite the widespread sharing of the video on social media, we received no information from the public as to the possible identity of the woman involved in the assault,” acting Berlin Police Chief Chris Ciuci said earlier this week, noting that followed up on multiple leads.

“We’d like to thank all our media partners for sharing the picture and bringing more attention to the incident because we received several tips yesterday (Tuesday, Sept. 14) that were followed up on and have led to the probable identity of the suspect.”

Ciuci said that the investigation into the incident is ongoing as the department prepares to apply for arrest warrants for the woman. The suspect has not been named publicly, but she is expected to face charges for the assault.
