Kurt Ford, 36, of West Haven, was arrested by New Canaan Police around noon on Tuesday, March 12, after attempting to pick up the items he had used from the front porch of another person's home, said New Canaan Police Lt. Jason Ferraro.
The incident began when the resident called the police and told them that someone had purchased a pair of Fendi sneakers for $834.85, a Fendi T-shirt for $760.40 and other items for more than $67 using their credit card information, Ferraro said.
An investigation discovered that the sneakers and T-shirt had been delivered to a residence on Gower Road, police said.
Ford then sent a text to an individual at the residence on Gower Road asking if they had his packages that had been delivered to the wrong address and that he would come and pick them up.
The New Canaan police set up a surveillance on the home and around noon, Ford was arrested when he arrived on the scene and attempted to remove the packages from the front porch, Ferraro said.
He was charged with identity theft and larceny and is being held on $25,000 bond.
"New Canaan Police encourage all residents to register their credit card accounts to receive mobile text or email alerts anytime their credit card is used," Ferraro said. "By receiving these text alerts you will know if any fraudulent activity is occurring with that credit card account."
