State Police said Trooper Karen Nixon had pulled her vehicle in behind another State Trooper to provide protection for the first trooper, who was investigating an unrelated collision in the left lane. Nixon had activated her emergency lights, according to a State Police statement.
Then a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo driven by Brian L. Glasser, 38, of 50 Saw Mill Road, didn't move over to the right lane and slammed into the 2011 Crown Victoria cruiser at what police called highway speeds, police said. Police said there was a clear sightline of 800 feet.
The force of the collision sent the cruiser forward 80 feet from where it was parked, police said. The extent of Nixon and Glasser's injuries were not released.
No charges have been laid yet as police continue the investigation.
