Police Investigating 'Suspicious' Death Of Woman, 55, In New Fairfield

NEW FAIRFIELD, Conn. — State Police are investigating the untimely death of a 55-year-old woman in New Fairfield, calling her death "suspicious."

Troopers from Troop A in Southbury and the New Fairfield Resident State Trooper's Office responded at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 2, to a home at 26 Candlewood Road on a report of an "untimely death."

Upon arrival, troopers found a deceased 55-year-old woman, state police said. State Police Detectives from the Western District Major Crime also responded to the scene and took control of the investigation.

State Police Detectives "have deemed this untimely death as suspicious," said a statement.

The woman was not identified by state police. 

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine cause and manner of death, state police said. 

"There is no threat to the public or community," state police said.

State Police said the investigation was ongoing.
