Robert Stackowitz, who escaped from a Georgia prison camp 50 years ago where he was serving a 17-year-sentence for robbery, is trying to avoid extradition, said the News-Times.
Stackowitz, who cities his health problems, including kidney failure and heart problems, appeared in court with casts on both legs, the News-Times reported. Authorities said he escaped from Carroll County Prison Work Camp in Georgia in 1968. The 70 year old, ran a repair business out of his home in Sherman and also taught auto mechanics in Danbury, added News-Times.
