Linda Richardson was walking near Sandy Lane Village, at Sandy Lane near Homestead Lane, when she was hit by car at 6:10 p.m. Monday, police said.
Brookfield police are seeking help in finding the unknown vehicle, which struck Richardson and left the scene at a high rate of speed without stopping.
The vehicle likely sustained damage to its center and/or left side of the front fender, hood, and windshield, police said.

Richardson's brother Stephen "is the last person to ask anyone for help, but is beside himself with grief and at a loss of what to do," says the GoFundMe, set up by the family.
They have raised about $3,000 of the $5,000 sought for arrangements and a small service, the website says.
"My heart breaks for you family, Steve. I hope this helps to honor your sister's memory and put her soul at peace," says a post on the page.
Police are seeking any information on the vehicle, which sped off traveling east on Sandy Lane to Old Gray's Bridge Road. The fatal accident happened in the area behind Bob's Discount Furniture off Federal Road.
Anyone who was in that area, either driving or on foot, who may have seen the fleeing vehicle is asked to call Detective Sgt. Michael O'Brien at the Brookfield Police Department at 203-740-4121.
