"It may not be August anymore, and the nights are certainly cooler, but those are no reasons to leave your animals locked in your car," Brookfield police said in a Facebook post.
Last week, the police department was alerted by an employee at a local business of a dog locked in a vehicle.
It was 80 degrees outside, but the temperature was recorded at 114 degrees inside the vehicle — with the windows cracked.
"Think about your pets, leave them home!" Brookfield police said.
