The two-year-old Belgian Malinois, along with his handler Sgt. Jeff Osuch, holds Connecticut Police Work Dog Association & North American Police Work Dog Association certifications in tracking, suspect apprehension, evidence recovery and narcotic detection.

Business owners Albert Tarrab of Future Subnets, Inc. and Brianna Ruocco donated the Garmin GPS-enabled training/tracking collar to the department, police said on Facebook.

It will allow Osuch to take Argo's training to the next level, since this GPS feature tracks Argo's exact location in real time.

This tracking is beneficial not only in the event that Argo becomes separated from Osuch, as has happened across the country, but it can be used to record Argo's tracks as evidence in criminal cases he works on, said police.
