The boy was found around 11 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25, in New Haven after officers responded to multiple 911 calls about someone being shot on Chatham Street, authorities said.
When officers arrived on the scene they found Tyshaun Hargrove, a resident of New Haven, suffering from gunshot wounds on Chatham Street, between Rowe and Ferry streets, said Officer Scott Shumway of the New Haven Police.
American Medical Response transported the victim to Yale-New Haven Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
At a news conference Thursday, Aug. 26, Acting Police Chief Renee Dominguez said the investigation is in its initial stages, and the incident appears to be isolated.
Hargrove's killing is the city's 19th homicide of the year.
