"Unfortunately, the paving company experienced an unforeseen mechanical breakdown," police said on Facebook. "This was the cause for the extra delay, and the reason the job wasn't completed today, as projected."
Paving will begin again on Friday at 8 a.m.
The paving crews will be completing Long Meadow Hill Road, beginning at the intersection of Signal Hill Road, and paving south to the intersection of Route 25, police said.
The police department thanks residents for their patience.
