The parties have exchanged five letters over the past few weeks, according to a story on NewsTimes.com. Safety concerns include a lack of bilingual staff and lifeguards and the safety of pedestrians who walk into the park.

The News-Times story said New Fairfield First Selectman Susan Chapman sent a letter to DEEP, which oversees the park, requesting for improved safety measures. DEEP is changing its regulations regarding walk-ins, but maintains New Fairfield has not enforced parking regulations when the park reaches its 250 car capacity.
