Financial Consultant To Look At Brookfield Schools, Town

BROOKFIELD, Conn. -- The Brookfield Board of Selectmen and Board of Education agreed on a $150,000 plan to have BlumShapiro Consultants examine financial controls and procedures at both the town and the school's, according to newstimes.com.

The need for the two to fix differences in financial reporting became evident after auditors found the school district had overspent its budget by $1.2 million over two years, reported newstimes.com.

In addition, auditing flagged $124,000 in questionable spending by former schools finance chief Art Colley, who was charged last month along with his assistant, Elizabeth Kerekes, with larceny and other violations, said newstimes.com
