At 9:45 p.m., a total of 1,002 customers, or 12 percent of the town, were without power, Eversource said.
As of 10:45 p.m., 855 customers were still without power, Eversource said. That is still 10 percent of the town.
Brookfield police were also reporting the following road closures due to downed trees and power lines:
- Huckleberry Hill Road near the YMCA
- Stony Hill Road between Pocono Ridge Road and Grays Bridge Road
- Route 133 east of North and South Obtuse
- North Obtuse at Route 133
- North Beech Tree Road
The Brookfield Police and Brookfield Fire Department were responding to numerous weather-related emergencies throughout town, police said.
Residents are asked to avoid downed trees, electrical poles, electrical wires and other problem areas.
Eversource is prioritizing its response and is working throughout town to repair the outages.
Heavy rain and hail pelted the area, along with strong winds, as the thunderstorm pounded the area.
